These short videos introduce you to yogic breathing techniques that are easy to follow.
The complete breath
I explain a little about the fundamentals of yogic breathing, and we do a practice called Dirga Pranayama, or the 3 part/complete breath. It is best done sitting, on a chair or on a cushion. We begin with abdominal breathing, then go to the thoracic chest area, then the collar bones, and it will build awareness of the different areas that you can breath into. It is 16 minutes long, with a bit of an explanation at the beginning.
Alternate Nostril Breathing
Nadi Shodana, the alternate nostril breathing pranayama. It can be done sitting on a cushion, the floor or on a seat. This video is around 10 minutes long. Nadi Shodana is very relaxing and calming for the mind and the body.
Box/square breathing
This is a lovely mindfulness breathing practice. It encourages slow, steady breathing, which will slow the heart rate down and help to calm the nervous system.
