Yoga classes that centre around one posture

Peak Pose Library

I wanted to put together some all level classes that have one posture at it’s core. I will be adding to this library every week. These are workshop style classes, so pick your pose and have fun!

Peak Pose - Parvottonasana

Pyramid pose, also named Parsvottonasana and intense side stretch, can be challenging if you have tight shoulders or your hamstrings restrict you in postures, so in this workshop style class we try and break it down a bit and ease into the posture after warming up fully. Also you can use props such as bricks to get the hands onto. This is 65 minutes long and also level 1, so anyone can give it a go!

A bridge too far

Lots of back bends and deep lunges in this one, to warm us up for chakrasana or wheel posture. Can't do it, then keep on with the bridge postures. We don't need any props specifically but you can always use a cushion! Level 2 and 70 minutes.

Exploring Baddhakonasana

We explore variations of the posture Baddhakonasana, plus warming up postures and practices around this pose. The class is 70 minutes long and suitable for all levels. suggested props are a cushion, wall or chair.

Peak Pose - Malasana

A peak pose is one that all other postures work up to, and in this class we focus on Malasana, Garland pose or squat, with variations offered. You will maybe need a belt plus a cushion for the lunge. This is a level 1 class, so suitable for beginners.

Peak Pose - Eagle

Demystifying and deconstructing the Eagle Posture (garudhasana) to make it more accessible, in this workshop style class. It is 75 minutes long.

Peak Pose - Tree

Tree pose is one of the most well known yoga postures, but lots of people find it really difficult. I break it down into different parts, and you will have done all the warming up by the time we get around to doing the pose.

Peak Pose - Pigeon

The grand hip opener that is pigeon! Some love it and some hate it, but there are variations to suit everyone. This is a 75 minute class and you will need a cushion for it.

Peak Pose - Downward Facing Dog

We do this class all the time, so I thought it would be great to spend the whole class breaking it down into it's separate parts. There are a lot of intricacies in this posture, as there are in all of them. You will need a belt and a rolled up blanket or towel. It is 75 minutes long. All levels.

Peak Pose - Dancer

This class focuses on the dancer posture (Natarajasana) and the supporting movements needed to get into the posture. It can be a really tricky posture for some people so it's good to break it down and analyse it a bit. You will need a strap for this class. It is suitable for all levels. 75 minutes long.

Peak Pose - Warrior 2.

Another workshop style class, this time focusing on the warrior 2 posture. You will need a cushion for this class and a belt. it is suitable for all levels and is 75 minutes long

Peak Pose Warrior 2 Part 2

Warrior 2 is an iconic and well known yoga pose, but of course there is a lot of work in it! The balance in yoga is being strong in a pose without causing tension in the body. We work up to the posture, and sometimes the lead up is more challenging than the pose itself. This is a 70 minute practice and for all levels. You can use a brick or a rolled up towel/cushion in the class.

Peak pose - Warrior 3

Let’s explore this standing balance posture in an easy going way! It can be pretty challenging, standing on one leg, but the fun is in the detail, and it’s all about getting the right muscles involved. This is 75 minutes long. Suitable for everyone.

Peak Pose - Warrior 3 pt 2

Another way of approaching the posture virabradhasana 3, or warrior 3. You will need a strap plus some wall space to do this class. and it is suitable for all levels. It is 75 minutes long. Also if you have knee problems, then feel free to use a cushion.

Peak Pose - Revolved Triangle

Revolved Triangle - Parvrtta Trikonasana, can be a tricky posture, so we break it down in this class and use the wall to aid us. You will also need a belt. Breathing plays an important part in this pose also. This is suitable for level 1 students and anyone who would like more insight into the posture.

Peak Pose - Half Moon

In this 75 minute practice, the focus is the half moon pose, which is a strong standing balance/hip opening posture. I would advise having a chair handy and we look at the ways it can make it easier, or even harder for some people. This was filmed with students in the class, and is level 1-2.

Peak Pose Matseyasana- fish pose.

We take a look at the fish pose and all of the elements that are needed to do the pose, along with variations that are better for anyone with neck issues. this is a workshop style class, suitable for all levels and you need a brick for it, or a rolled up towel, something to put behind your back to help release tightness between the shoulder blades. It is 65 minutes long.
